Golden Globe Race boats depart Falmouth after Parade of Sail bound for Les Sables-d'Olonne

Plenty of wind overnight gave way to blue skies as the GGR fleet paraded in-front of crowds in Falmouth and then took off to sail south for the main start in Les Sables-d'Olonne.

Sir Robin Knox - Johnson and Suhali led the parade of sail along with Gypsy Moth IV.
The Boatshed team were on hand to get some great images and footage of the boats plus share a beer with the competitors last night at Falmouth's famous Chain Locker pub.

Boatshed are one of the sponsors of the 2018 GGR and are now looking forward to meeting up with the boats in Les Sables-d'Olonne to prepare for the main race start on 1st July.

Falmouth Harbour gave everyone a great send-off with fireworks and sea shanties. Sir Robin Knox - Johnson was the guest of honour that everyone wanted to see.

The Parade of sail started a bit wet and blustery, but thanks to our friends at Pendennis Shipyard who supplied their trusted high speed yard launch at our disposal, the mission was great fun and we got to enjoy the action.
